Vee Speers Inspired Photos
My sister:
<My Favourite
How and what I did
These are my very own photos inspired by Vee Speers.
Some of the photos have a very visible shadow, this is because I was experimenting with the lighting.
To create these photos, I went into the photography studio at school. I experimented with the light a lot and changed mine and the models position quite a few times to get photo's at different angles.
Some of the photos are more exposed than others because on some, I used the flash and others are darker and a little blurry because of the way the light source was positioned.
In the photos where the girl is in different costumes I used a white wall at my house, in my hallway. The girl is my sister and I made her wear costumes that look a little like the costumes Vee Speers uses, I know this because I have analysed Vee's photos and her models in 'The Birthday Party' wear childens fancy dress costumes because at a childrens
birthday party that is what they would wear.
Also in most of the photos my sister is wearing bright and bold coloured costumes, I used these colours so that you are attracted to the girl and what she is wearing.
I have cropped some of the pictures to ensure that no parts you don't need to see, you don't see. My favourite photo out of these is the one where she is holding the bear and shes looking out to the side this is because, to me this photo seems more imaginative.
You wonder what she is thinking an how shes feeling, you star to think of loads of questions.
Also the colour of the bear stands out against the white background which makes it eye catchy.

Summary of Vee Speers
Her style is to create beautiful yet disturbing images but also to leave space for the viewer to enter her world. Her portraits combine elements which evoke conflicting emotions that can surprise the viewer telling a story that is somewhere between fantasy and reality, the obvious and unexpected.
Her technique is to usually use a simple white background to detract the viewer from looking at the background also it some of her albums she uses complicated backgrounds but they look far away so you still pay attention to the person.
In most of her photos the person is right in the center of the photo so you look directly at the person.
Her models have been made to wear bright coloured costumes so they stand out and in some of the albums the pictures are black, grey and white so she uses the light to make her focal point the lightest part of the photo so you are attracted to that focal point.
In Vee Speers' photo albums Thirteen her story is that the girl is growing up and she is also going through pains at the same time.
In The Birthday Party I personally think that the story is about showing what children are really like but using the idea of it being fancy dress as an excuse for the children to show who they really are. Like saying you cant judge a book by its cover, so children may look sweet and innocent but behind all that they have a lot of pain and secrets.
Perou Inspired Photos
Edits
I have increased the sharpness of the mug so that it is more in focus.
The following photos I have increased the brightness because all of Perous photos are bright and these ones of mine weren't.
A Small Intoduction To Perou
Ralph John Perou is a British fashion, portrait and and music photographer who has also appeared as a judge on 'make me a supermodel UK' and season 2 of Bravo TV's American 'make me a supermodel'.
How and what I did
These are my very own photos inspired by Perou.
I used my friend Olivia as my model and shot these photos in the photography studio at school.
I learnt my lesson from the first photo shoot I did of Vee Speers, the lighting, I made sure that I had no shadow in the background of my photos.
Like Perou I used a simple and plain coloured background and I tried to use colours that are bright and that stood out but I didn't really have much to work with.
I switched my camera settings to black and white to get the black and white coloured photos.
Perou's photos are strange and creative so I tried to make my photos as strange an creative as his.
I had to crop some of the photos to cut bits out of the background that I didn't want to be in the photo
Summary of Perou
His style is to capture photos of British fashion, portraits and music.
His technique is to use bright coloured backgrounds but plain and if the background isn't brightly coloured something else would be brightly coloured in the photo. He likes to use a lot of contrasting colours to produce strange and eye catching photos.
All of his photos are in high focus and they are all very clear.
Personally I think that his photos don't really have a story, they're just interesting. But the portraits of the celebrates have a secret about the celebrity in the portrait, like something that no one knows.
